FIRMER GROUND MORE TO SACRED EMPIRE’S LIKING

Dec 29, 2017

At his fourth run this time in, Tony Pike’s five-year-old gelding SACRED EMPIRE appreciate the firmer ground over the 1800m to record an impressive three length win at Riccarton Park.

Starting the race favourite due to his consistent recent form, the full-brother to Group 1 winner MORE THAN SACRED flew the barriers and found himself in front before jockey Jason Waddell eased him back into third on the rail.

Maintaining his position throughout, there were a few runs from back in the pack, but Waddell just kept his mount comfortable until just before the home turned where he pulled him the widest of all runners, charging down the outside with ease to record a dominate victory, recording his third career win.
